Sioux 8005S 3/8" 2500 RPM Keyed Chuck Variable Speed Drill

This unorthodox shaped drill is intended for "close quarter drilling" applications and suits this purpose beautifully. As a woodturner, I was prompted to buy one to facilitate power sanding in small vessels that was impossible with a conventional drill. It also proved ergonomically well designed for routine drilling, and the variable speed feature allowed accurate starting position. The higher speed range (2500rpm compared to 1300rpm for the 8000S) permits faster, cooler drilling, and the high power was demonstrated by boring a 3/8" hole in 2" thick hard oak in just a few seconds. This tool can be used at low speed to drive screws, but lacking a clutch, care must be taken, The instruction sheet recommends returning the drill annually to a Sioux service center, but a list of locations of these centers isn't included.

I hate to sound corny but I do would turning and I had been using a dewalt drill to do my power sanding, this drill was big and heavy and I normally had to use both hands to hold and direct the drill. With the Sioux I only use one hand, the drill is easy to manuever andit allows me to get into tight areas that I could not do with the dewalt drill. I only wish that I had discovered this tool at an earlier point. Oh, also I compared this drill with the Milwaukee angle drill but the Milwaukee only goes up to 1300 rpm. Thank's Sioux
