Free Batteries For LifeLithiumTech Batteries: Best Power-to-Weight Ratio
LithiumTech cordless tools feature all the advantages of cutting-edge Lithium-Ion technology, including no memory effect and minimal self-discharge, which means they're always ready to go.
These batteries also weigh 40% less than standard Ni-Cd batteries, yet can be charged up to three times more cycles than standard Ni-Cd batteries and offer twice the runtime. Moreover, unlike ordinary Ni-Cd and Ni-MH batteries that lose their power rapidly, LithiumTech batteries will hold their charge even after months of inactivity.
Lightweight and Powerful
Weighing in at just 4.8 pounds, the RK2812K2 packs a powerful punch in a small package. It provides 21+1 torque settings with 490 in./lbs. of torque to drill 1-1/2 inches in wood and 1/2 inch in steel, yet is easy to manage--even during all-day jobs.
Variable Speed Design
The RK2812K2 ensures optimum precision by offering high and low gears with a variable speed range of 0-400/0-1300 rpm, which makes it easy to match the correct speed to the task at hand. It also has a 1/2-inch single-sleeve, high-quality Jacobs metal chuck for durability, and a soft grip handle for extended comfort and control.
And to ensure safety and precision, this drill/driver features a sight light that keeps the workpiece clearly visible, even in dark or enclosed spaces.

Unfortunately I had to return it. No matter how tight I made the chuck as soon as I drilled 5 or 10 holes the chuck would loosen and the bit or drill point would fall out. This drill has an immediate stopping as soon as you release the trigger, so much so that in setting #2, the drill would actually jump in your hand. This could very well be the reason the chuck loosens. Thats the only explanation I can figure. Could be the drill I received but I didnt want to chance another one. Right now, Im checking the rest of Rockwells Amazon offers. The idea of "free batteries for life" is great when you figure the price of replacement batteries from other manufacturers. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Rockwell RK2812K2 18-Volt Lithiumtech Lithium-Ion High Performance Cordless Drill (Tools & Home Improvement) I was looking for a drill to replace my Craftsman 19.2V because it was heavy & the batteries were dying. This drill works well for me, it's lighter than the Craftsman and the Li-ion batteries are working great. Seems like a good drill for the money. So why only 3 stars? The battery replacement was the thing that convinced me to give this a try. I registered on-line and sent in the required paperwork within 1 week and never heard anything back. I've emailed since and never got a response. I've given up. Apparently they don't want repeat customers. I'm not terribly upset because I got a decent drill for a decent price, but I'd never recommend a company with this kind of customer service. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Rockwell RK2812K2 18-Volt Lithiumtech Lithium-Ion High Performance Cordless Drill (Tools & Home Improvement) Recently found a slick deal on this drill and had wanted a Lithium-Ion with a little more grunt then my B&D firestorm (it recently found difficult times drilling through angle iron). This drill really is a good performer at the price. I would compare the quality to that of Dewalt so far. I didn't have the chuck issues the other reviewer had. At the same time I ended up buying the 7-piece "compact" set. The tools in that are slightly lower quality but again, very high. No issues with them. The lifetime battery replacement is what really sold me! It is a little sketchy though on the terms... need original proof of purchase and can change terms of the program at any time. I also registered each part as "1-piece" for the warranty within the 90 day period. |
