Panasonic EY7440LN2L 14.4-Volt Lithium Ion Drill Driver Kit With Light
Comment: This is the first time that I've used a truly precision drilling instrument, and it is a revelation. The fact that the motor has a braking system is very unusual for someone who has never used a drill of this precise before. I was used to having a motor just slow down and eventually stop. This motor literally stops on a dime. For novice drill users, this is quite an improvement over the usual 9.6 volt (which I'm not sure are even made anymore) minimum torque drills. This is definitely a tool for precision users as well, and if properly cared for (and Panasonic gives great instructions for this) then I fully expect to have this tool for a lifetime. I've never had a piece of equipment that was good enough to care enough about maintaining it and keeping it over long amount of time. I protect this thing like a computer or piece of high tech equipment, and I expect it last and be useful forever. A great selection for any type of user.

Summary: Fabulous tool 2009-06-13
Comment: I'm one of those people who do a lot of research before buying a tool, and this one got glowing reviews from Fine Homebuilding / Taunton Press. There are other, considerably less expensive, drill drivers on the market, but I went with their recommendation and I'm glad I did.
It's a joy to use and has made my home-renovation tasks much easier. The tool is balanced and powerful, and the keyless chuck makes it super easy to change out bits. The addition of a quality flashlight and two battery packs make this a really sweet package.
I loaned the flashlight to a plumber who was working in a dark corner under my sink and he loved how it was so fully repositionable and cast a strong beam that made it much easier for him to work. Get this quality tool and you'll never regret it.

Summary: Best electric screwdriver I own 2008-11-16
Comment: I have two 18volt DeWalt screwdriver/drills, a 14volt DeWalt screwdriver/drill and a useless electric screwdriver I bought at Costso. This drill outperforms all the DeWalts. It lasts long, screws hard torque screws better and the flashlight is a great bonus - VERY BRIGHT.
I bought this based on a Tool Review that rated it highest, and was very sceptical - really - a Panasonic tool - how good could that be. I can say I'm very happy and highly recommend this product!

Summary: Silky smooth and unbelievable torque 2008-09-07
Comment: Went into my local professional tool supplier with the full intent of buying a DeWalt 18V lithium ion drill/driver combo. After trying it out, the sale rep suggested I should try out the Panasonic which he felt had a smoother trigger. It was also the one he personally owned. He was right...there was no comparison. From the slowest to fastest speeds, the control was exceptionally smooth. Both the drill and the driver are lighter than the DeWalt, and the power and torque ratings are essentially the same even at 14.4V.
Using the drill with a 2" hole saw going through 3/4" oak plywood, I had the clutch fully off...and made the mistake of not holding the drill really tight...almost pulled it clean out of my hand at one point. Lesson learned.
The only knock I've heard about these tools is they're fairly brittle if dropped. So, I'll be careful.
Don't get me wrong...I'm not biased against DeWalt. I own and love a number of DeWalt tools, and will continue to be a fan. It's just in this case, I think I bought better. I'm absolutely delighted with these tools...only wish there were more Panasonic tools that worked with the 14.4V batteries.
