Amazon.com Product Description
For years, tool manufacturers have been striving to produce cordless tools that are powerful enough to compete head-to-head with traditional corded tools. Here's one case where they've succeeded: The Milwaukee 0779-22 V28 impact wrench is powered by a high-tech 28-volt lithium-ion battery that delivers an astonishing 3,900 in./lbs. of torque. Its high-performance, variable-speed motor operates at 1,450 rpm and produces 2,450 blows per minute of percussive force to crack free even the most rusted, frozen nuts. The industrial-quality magnesium motor housing adds durability without dramatically increasing the weight. Even so, this tool weighs in at a beefy 9 pounds.

The 0779-22 is the most powerful cordless impact wrench on the market, and it'll handle many jobs that are typically reserved for corded or pneumatic drivers, including removing lug nuts from car, SUV and truck tires. This versatile tool can also be used to drive large lag screws and bore deep holes into wood. A steel ring is provided for attachment to the top of the tool. Use it to conveniently raise or lower the tool with a rope when working from a ladder, roof or other elevated position.

The wrench is a little over 12 inches long, but Milwaukee cleverly fitted this tool with reversible batteries that slide on from either the front or rear. When the battery is mounted on the front, the tool is a bit shorter. Sliding it on from the rear moves the battery back, allowing the wrench to reach into tighter spaces. Note that you must use heavy-duty impact sockets with this cordless wrench. Standard sockets aren't recommended because they could shatter during use.Joseph Truini

Summary: This impact is just as good as a sanpon I borrowed 2010-03-21
Comment: I love this impact. It is every bit as good as a snap on impact I borrowed from a friend. yesterday I did two vehicles ,one was a snap the other had studs on it that had been over tightened and rust as well and after I was done the battery still had two full bars left. I am impressed with the power and the way I can change the position of the battery. I now own three Milwaulkee V28 sawsalls and now this V28 1/2 inch impact. I highly recommend this product to anyone that really needs to have a dependable tool that won't let them down while on the job.

Summary: POWERFUL IMPACT 2009-04-16
Comment: I was skeptical about buying this tool. A lot of money would be wasted if it didn't perform as advertised. I placed my trust in Milwaukee's reputation. When a negative reviewer has only one review to his credit - and that review is negative - that tells me that the reviewer is 100% negative and I disqualify his input from my decision making. When my 100psi impact wrench began failing to break free 15/16ths-inch cutting-blade nuts on a 1500-pound commercial mower, I knew more power was needed. Laying on my back under a raised cutting deck and pushing a 15-inch box-end wrench with a pipe extension with both feet and while pulling another such setup with both hands above the deck left me with an aching back for a month, but the 12-inch blade bolt and nut did come loose. Never again. After 8 months of use and a dozen blade changes, my worries have vanished. It takes about 15 seconds to break the nuts loose. The first time I used it - and the nut didn't break free in 3 seconds - my heart sank. Then it lifted. I was surprised that there is no reverse torque. I was expecting this wrench to kick like a mule after reading the break-dancing comment. One hand is all that is needed. I've removed lugs from trucks and cars and tractors. No problems. Another impressive fact is that I can remove 20 lugs on a vehicle and still have all four red power indicator lights burning on the battery. Granted, there are impact wrenches made for 18-wheelers and tanks that are rated in the thousands of foot-pounds of torque, but this 28V Milwaukee slid under the wire for me. It is about all the power I need. Every year I hear about a compressor exploding and causing injury or death. Perhaps condensation had accumulated inside the tank for years and rusted the walls. Compressor tanks do need to be drained. And fighting hoses can be like wrestling an anaconda. So far, my 28V impact wrench has not exploded, tripped or choked me. And it hasn't bitten me either because it does the job - and for me - that makes it worth the price.

Summary: Overrated torque, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY 2009-02-27
Comment: I have most of the v28 line and love them. Well not this tool. This tool is a dog. I tried to remove lug nuts on a car. Too Bad. It just sits there hammering away and won't loosten them. So I take it back to an authorized dealer, since I think It's defective. They gave me a new tool. GREAT, I thought. The new tool did take off some lug nuts, sometimes. These are hand tightened torqued lug nuts at 120 Ft-lbs. and it can't spin them off. What? The torque rating is way overstated, If you want to use this on smaller bolts, maybe it would be a wise choice. But I would never recommend this tool to anyone. It's a pretty big tool, but big doesn't mean powerful! Be warned, it doesn't have the power it's stated to have!

Summary: Milwaukee 28 volt impact wrench 2009-01-08
Comment: I just bought this tool to use as a road service assist tool in my race car trailer. It was rated at over 200 ft.lbs. of torque which should have been more than adequate to remove lug nuts that were torqued on at 95 ft.lbs. Alas, the impact wrench just hammers away without breaking loose the lug nuts. I still need to use a breaker bar and loosen the initial torque manually. I have been using Milwaukee tools for 35 years and have very seldom been disappointed in one. This will still be a useful tool, I just wish the power would have been rated accurately.
