Product Description
The Milwaukee 0724 Cordless 28-volt 1/2 in. Hammer-Drill uses the Milwaukee built high power motor to develop an enormous 600 in. lbs. of maximum torque and 0-600/0-1800 rpm, ideal for drilling larger holes and driving larger screws faster! Powering the 0724 is the revolutionary 28-volt Lithium-Ion battery pack exclusively from Milwaukee. The 28-volt battery pack weighs less than an 18-volt pack yet delivers two times the run-time, making this the ideal solution for all drilling and driving needs! Only the Milwaukee battery can be inserted in the reverse position which allows for the ultimate balance when working overhead or in hard to reach areas. The 0724 comes standard with the industry's tightest gripping chuck: a 1/2-inch all-metal, single-sleeve, ratcheting chuck with all carbide jaws that keeps bits from falling out and drill bits from slipping! A comfortable non-slip, soft-grip handle reduces vibration and fatigue. The 0724 also comes standard with the patented Clip-Lok System. The Clip-Lok???? System attaches securely to the operator's belt or tool bags and easily releases with one hand, ideal for when working from a ladder or when there is nowhere to place the tool when adjusting or positioning a work piece. The Clip-Lok System also features an on-board bit holder which holds up to two standard Phillips bits. Includes two 28V batteries, 1-hour charger, carrying case, Clip-Lok System, side handle and #2 Phillips bit.
Amazon.com Product Description
Sporting the longest running 28-volt hammer drill on the market, Milwaukee's V28 lithium-ion cordless kit is always charged up for the beefiest drilling and driving applications. The tool switches easily between drill, drive, and hammer modes for less downtime and smoother transitions between tasks. This ½-inch hammer drill cranks out a whopping 600 inch-pounds of torque for drilling large holes and driving heavy bolts for deck support, playground equipment, and post-and-beam construction. The two variable speeds do it fast, too, spinning along at 0-600 or 0-1800 rpm's for more productivity.

Powering the V28 is Milwaukee's revolutionary 28-Volt Lithium-Ion battery pack. The 28-volt battery pack weighs less than an 18-volt NiCad pack yet delivers twice the runtime. And, a patented battery design lets you insert the battery in the reverse position for optimal balance when working overhead or in hard-to-reach areas.

The V28 hammer-drill comes standard with a ½-inch all-metal, single-sleeve, ratcheting chuck with carbide jaws that keep bits from falling out or slipping. A comfortable non-slip, soft-grip handle reduces vibration and fatigue. For easy transport and access, Milwaukee's patented Clip-Lok system attaches the tool securely to the operator's belt or tool bag and easily releases with one hand—a boon for ladder work where there's is nowhere safe to rest the tool. Milwaukee cover's this kit with a 5-year warranty. --Brian Olson

Summary: milwuakee means THE BEST 2010-06-10
Comment: ALREADY AS I SAID, ONLY MIWUAUKEES TOOLS THERE IS A WORD THAT CAN DESCRIBE IT PERFECTLY, THE BEST OF THE BEST.

I HAVE HAD OTHER BRANDS AND ALL WORK FINE, STARTED WITH SKIL AND I WAS GOING UP IN PRICE AND OF QUALITY ALSO.

NO ONE EQUALS MILWUAUKEE. WHEN YOU NEED POWER AS YOU HAVE.

WORTH EVERY DOLLAR, I SAY THE TRUTH, BECAUSE WORKING HARD WITH THIS TOOL IN PARTICULAR WITH CEMENT AND IRON, WORKING WITH WOOD IS A GAME OF CHILDREN WHICH ALSO I LIKE PLAY AND THIS IS REQUIRES THE BEST.... NOTHING MORE.

Summary: New 18 volt versions provide same amount of power 2010-06-07
Comment: We have had one of these in use for many months and it is an excellent drill with plenty of power. It needs to be noted though that the newer Milwaukee 2611 18 volt cordless has a higher torque rating and works just as well if used properly. By properly I mean with the correct speed range setting (no leaving it on high range and powering on), starting gradually with the power, and using modern hole cutters when making holes in non-metal materials.

The higher than average top RPM provided is very useful when drilling metal and does take the place of a cord drill. When cutting wood or plywood the use of a modern hole cutter like the Blue Boar TCT hole cutters will provide performance that is better than with a big stud drill and using a regular hole saw. Same applies to the new Irwin Speedbor bits for smaller holes in wood.

Recharge time of 1 hour is close to what we find in normal use. There are battery chargers from Makita that charge in 15 minutes but then there is the additional recommended cool down time of 30 or more minutes so the total charge time is the same. I would sooner trust the Milwaukee approach with what are very expensive batteries.

The Milwaukee chucks loosen up more than any other I have used and it is a major irritant to cut half way through and then have the drill bit fall out. Makita chucks are just as bad but DeWalt and Bosch have figured out how to make a chuck that holds on tight.

In terms of drilling performance the Milwaukee 2611 is a better value.

Summary: Right tool for the job 2010-05-09
Comment: I bought this drill to go with my Socket Jenie to make raising the roof of my Coachmen Futura popup trailer. With all the hype about the torque and warnings about using the side handle I was a little disappointed that it did not have enough torque to do the job. I ended up changing gears on our roof lift assembly and now the drill works great. In fact, now it would be a lengthy and therefore tiresome process to crank the roof up by hand. But with this drill's memory-free Lithium-Ion battery that maintains consistent power for the entire length of the charge, it is the right tool for the job.

Summary: Power to Spare 2010-01-12
Comment: I too purchased this 28v hammer drill/driver as part of Milwaukee's four piece kit. I'm a DIY guy, not a contractor. I own a big 100 year old place. I've built a 6' fence, and am working on a playhouse / storage shed. I am building with rough cut birch from a saw mill that went out of business years ago. Between the 100 year old fir and this well seasoned birch my smaller drills lacked the torque to sink screws consistently.

Since I purchased this 28v drill, I have yet to meet it's match. It has never failed. I'm a big guy so the weight of this drill is not an issue. When going to a smaller drill, the smaller drill does feel very light after using this one. Having this drill has increased my productivity tremedously on these jobs that require the 600#'s of torque. It's nice to know the torque is there when needed.

The two batteries are plenty to keep you going as long a day as you are up to working. We live so far north that we have summer days with sunlight from 3:30am to 10:30pm. "Rome wasn't built in a day, but you can move a lot of cement in a day". You can get a lot done in a day with this tool. Yes, I love it.

Summary: milwaukee 28volt drill, powerful but poorly built 2009-10-29
Comment: I use this drill everyday, and i can tell you its a powerful drill. I bought this drill approximately one month ago and since that day have had the trigger sticking on a daily basis and have had the chuck screw fallout numerous times. I have been lucky enough to find it when it fallsout nearly evertime and i just put it back in. My supervisor owns the same drill and had to send his in for repair for the same problem but when his fell out so did the chuck and the chuck then broke.Well now i have lost the screw this time and decided that this is enough. Brought it back to the store i bought it from for an even exchange. Hope this drill changes my mind but as far as im concerned this drill is a safety hazard and its not just an isolated incident. Dont buy this drill if you want to keep your fingers and dont wanna waste the 400$ this high priced finger hazard of machine will cost you. BUY A DEWALT
