Quite possibly, this is the world's best 12-volt drill. When you first pick it up, you don't expect much: It's light and amazingly compact. But wrap your hand around the cushioned, soft-grip, non-slip handle and squeeze the comfortable, rubberized trigger, and you're packing so much torque--280 inch/pounds—-that we defy you not to shout "Oh yeah!" First, we love the size. It's so smartly designed and built that you'll be able to work in the tight spots other drills can only dream about. We have no beef with the tough plastic housing, because it definitely contributes to the light weight. The battery design is a stroke of genius because it enables you to insert the battery with the overlap to the front OR the back, so you can tailor the shape of your drill to your workspace. Another nice feature is the ease with which the battery goes on and off—-we've struggled more than we care to admit with batteries on other drills. In the power department, you can't beat this tough guy. It maxes at an impressive 1,400 rpm, and none of the vibration ends up in your bones. Add to all of that the nifty Clip-Lok storage hanger, and you cannot help but love this drill.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

If you need a good all around cordless, this drill is highly recommended. Milwaukee has done a great job incorporating "Heavy Duty" toughness without the weight of an 18 volt bruiser! This drill is not only light but compact, nearly the size of my older Panasonic. The plastic housing is the best I have seen among cordless drills. Looks like it's built to last! The rubberized trigger and soft grip handle just adds to the balanced comfort. This drill also included a cool Clip-Lok system eliminating the need for a holster or one of those awkward lug hooks.
The power is more than adequate for most jobs. I was able to drill quite a few holes with my hole-saw during door installations. The drill does pack a pretty hefty kick with all the torque generated at 1400rpm. Luckily, there is a two speed feature to tame this beast! For me, a good 12 volt drill is perfect for most woodworking projects, the weight and extra bulk of anything greater is just not worth the fatique...Read more

I have been using two of these drills for a few years now and they are awesome . I don't know what these people are looking for out of a 12 volt cordless drill but they must be smoking something if they're not happy with this . This tool takes a beating and comes back for more . Great power for a 12 volter . Very comfortable for all day use .

I bought this over two years ago & wanted to wait to review it. I have beaten this thing up mercilessly, including exposing it to salt water - never a total dunk, but lots of spray and splashes. No problem. I have also dropped it on concrete, in the sand, used it as a mallet, and done all kinds of other bad things to it.
My only complaints are (1)the low capacity batteries that come with the drill. They provide plenty of power - just not long enough. The replacement 2.4a.h. ones do a lot more work between charging.
(2)The belt hook is a joke, but I never use it anyway.
(3)The carrying case for this thing is a monster - big enough for three drills.
Good torque and the one-hand tightening chuck is very convenient. My outer bearings are getting a bit loose now, but given the amount of sand, mud, and plaster dust this thing has eaten in two years, I consider that OK.
