I purchase this product for drilling concrete wall for a tv. Great drilling but, the hammer selector is stuck on hammer drilling. Bad thing now is always in hammer drill. Call Makita and nothing ,.... no customer service. Not a good product.

I had 2 seperate drills in 2 days, the first one overheated after 4 holes in masonry and the reverse switch jammed up. The second one locked in hammer mode after 4 holes and would not come out. I returned both. This is a poorly designed low quality tool. I reccomend you avoid it.

When I used this for the first time, the gears partially stripped out on the third hole, and now it runs rough. I am going to try to return it. It was for a 1.5" hole in soft waferboard with a flat wood bit. I need my drill to be able to handle an occasional stall (which you often get when one of these bits breaks through), which is why I bought an apparently solidly-built half-inch drill from a (formerly?) well-regarded company. But evidently this drill is a fraud, and the solid look is just that. It's actually gutless. I am concerned that none of its competitors are any better, though. They were all made in China, this one was at least "Assembled in USA". Maybe I'll pay the extra for a Bosch, at least they're made in Germany.
