The BDF452Z features a Makita-built four-pole motor that delivers 450 in.lbs. of Max Torque and 285 in.lbs. of PTI Torque in a compact size. The BDF452Z has a two-speed all-metal transmission that delivers 0-400 RPM in low speed and 0-1,500 RPM in high for a wide range of drilling and driving applications.

About Makita's 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Tool Series
As one of the pioneers driving the cordless tool revolution, Makita changed the game with its breakthrough 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Series. The batteries last and charge quickly. Since I use these two tools around the house, having two batteries between the impact and the drill works out fine. The one thing I have encountered (not sure it is severe enough to call it a complaint) is the grip on the chuck. The chuck is ribbed with small ridges. When tightening the chuck the drill is powerfull enough to spin the chuck in your hand and a couple times I have burned my hand from the friction.
