I bought this to replace an identical drill that was stolen some time ago. I still had the case and a battery and wanted to get the same drill so that I could keep using those. I was a little hesitant to buy a refurbished drill, but Amazon has been trustworthy so I went ahead. I use the drill at work and so far it has performed admirably. As well as my original one. I haven't used the hammer drill function much yet, but I haven't seen anything that would make me believe that it wouldn't work. It's not the lightest drill, being a Ni-Cad rather than Lithium, but it has serious grunt and functions great. It's not the most armored piece, so dropping it from high places will have consequences, both on the drill and on anyone below! Overall, a good drill and well worth the money for use around the home or in light industrial work.

I recently used my sons Hitachi hammer/drill and found it to be excellent especially for its torquing power. It not only bites into wood and countersinks but will continue on through the board and beyond. I own a slightly different model which is not the hammer type and while I love it it does not have this power although each drill is 18 volts and 1/2". I also loved the pull out chuck on the hammer drill which securely grips the bit. I am forever losing bits because they sometimes fall out of mine when it is pointed down. I have to keep a magnet nearby just to find them. I found my sons hammer/drill to be an excellent tool.

Used around the home. Case broke with first use and the chuck is stripped now. Fixed under warranty but repairs take a long time. It is powerful and has a long chrge when it isn't broke.
