We did a double-take when we saw the price on this incredible set of tools. It's everything you need for home do-it-yourself projects and woodworking, but Delta's quality makes us think even the contractor couldn't go too far wrong with this set as a back-up. You could build a deck or frame a room with nothing but the tools in this kit and a level (which, if anyone from Delta is reading this, would be the perfect addition). Applause to Delta for wrapping each tool handle in a nice ergonomic grip material. Aside from that, here's what we particularly like about each tool: The circular saw is easy to maneuver, not cumbersome and clunky like others we've handled. There's a nice, clear line of sight at the cutline, and kudos to Delta for including a carbide blade rather than high-speed steel-a nice touch. The pitch of the front handle gave us a great, secure grip. The jigsaw blade changes easily, the trigger's comfortable and there's plenty of power. The cordless sander feels great in hand, and we can imagine the projects we could take that to without dragging an extension cord. The 24-position clutch drill, which will probably be the most-used tool of the bunch, has great balance and a comfortable grip. It's relatively compact, making it perfect for those with smaller hands. Convenient little bit holders right on board, too. The flashlight's a fine little worker, but there are no outstanding features we could see. But the brad nailer, for us, is the cream of this crop. It's the answer for those who've always wanted a nailer but didn't want the requisite compressor, too. It's reliable, powerful and heck, we'll admit it, fun to use. We like the range of brads it'll drive, too. This is a fantastic collection of tools you just can't go wrong with.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Summary: Great set of cordless tools for the casual user. 2007-10-19
Comment: Although it's made in Taiwan, the USA firm of Delta, of woodworking fame, has designed a set of relatively high quality cordless tools for the homeowner/casual user. They are not commercial grade. But have stood up to my weekend warrior abuse. All seem to have good torque and hefty feel, yielding accurate results.
For the price, I'd choose it over competing Ryobi and Sears kits.

Summary: battery options 2007-08-06
Comment: This is a fantastic set, but I've had battery problems, too. However, you can take the battery to any place that refurbs batteries, like batteriesplus, and they will swap out the cells for a price. You end up with a more powerful battery in the end. Finding another shell to have a third backup battery would be nice.

Summary: don't buy it 2007-07-07
Comment: These tools are made in China and the batteries are no longer available ANYWHERE! So once your batteries die - you are done.
If you want confirmation - go to any dewalt service store and they will tell you the same thing.

Summary: Good tools, but the batteries are poor 2007-01-05
Comment: I have two sets of these tools. I have used both sets for a couple of years and they work fine for the price. The drawback is that the batteries go bad after about a year and you can not find replacement batteries easily. When you do, they are around $100 each!! I have four total batteries and two of mine have gone bad (50%). Delta does not even list the tools on their web site and I have gone to many stores with battery in hand only to be disappointed that I can not find a replacement. I would recommend a tool set from a company that actually claims the tools on their site and offers replacement parts and batteries.

Summary: for the price, you can't pass it up. 2005-12-13
Comment: i picked up this set about a year ago and have been extremely satisfied with its build quality. with a little over a year of use, everything still works flawlessly and the batteries are still as fresh as the day i bought the set. i personally use the drill the most, followed by the jig saw and the circular saw, and lastly, the sander. i haven't really found much of a use for the brad nailer as of yet. one thing i feel is very important to mention is the use of the flast light... i dont believe its truely intended to be used as a flashlight, but rather a means of completely discharging the battery before recharging it; at least thats what i use it for. BOTTOMLINE: its the perfect set for the weekend worrior.
