Latest innovation in power tools. Lithium-Ion technology produces a longer run time, more power and better performance in extreme temperatures. It also has a low discharge rate when not in use meaning it will minimize having to charge the battery before use. The new compact Lithium-Ion battery Dual battery fuel gauge. Simply press the button on the front of the battery and the fuel gauge on the front and in the stem of the battery and the indicator will glow green, yellow and then red to indicating the amount of power remaining. The new compct lithium-Ion battery will fully charge in only 30 minutes with the use of the new and improved charger, 25926 (this battery REQUIRES the use of the new and improved charger). The new 19.2-volt compact Lithium-Ion battery will increase the performance and run time of all the Craftsman C3 tools. Some up to a 200% increase over their Ni-Cad counterpart. The Compact Lithium-Ion battery is compatible with over 25 C3 tools.

I replaced the ni-cad batteries in my old Craftsman 19.2 drill with the Craftsman Lithium-ion power pack and have been very pleased. There is a larger pack that will probably suit a professional better, but these smaller (and less expensive) batteries lasted through any home job I've had so far. I'm no longer swapping ni-cad packs. In order to charge them, you have to purchase a new charging unit specifically designed for lithium-ion. The charger has a diagnostic circuit that evaluates the battery before starting to charge and turns itself off when the battery is charged. No more timers to avoid over-charging ni-cad batteries!

I was reluctant to buy this battery/charger due to the preponderance of negative reviews that are all remarkebly consistent. But I received them as a Christmas present. I'm a home user so I really didn't use my drill much until I moved about a year after I received the battery. At first I was loving this battery for its incredibly long charge interval. But just like all the other reviewers warned, I forgot to pay attention to its state of charge and I ran the drill until the battery died. After that it simply wouldn't hold a charge anymore. Eventually I disassembled it and replaced the two MOSFET rectifiers on the circuit board. Works fine now but for how long I don't know. The MOSFETS are screwed to an aluminum heat sink and I noticed only the tiniest dab of heat sink compond imaginable had been applied to them. So small it didn't cover more than 10% of the surface between the MOSFETs and the heat sink. When I repaired mine I used a liberal application of heat sink compound figuring...Read more

Warning:
- Make sure you have the correct Sears C3 compatible tool before using this battery.
- Make sure you have the correct Sears C3 charger for this battery (the correct charger has a red bottom).
- When Li-Ion batteries run out of juice, the battery stops dead. I think this protects the battery from fully discharging, which shortens battery life. Not 100% sure of the science behind it. But, the first time this happened to me, I thought I broke my drill. haha

Battery life is better for us do it yourselfers. I can leave the battery disconnected from the charger for months and it still has plenty of juice to get the job done. Most batteries self discharge over time.

While using the battery, it doesn't slowly get weaker and weaker until it dies like the old ni-cad junk. It will drive a 1/2" bit through 6/4 oak like it was butter... and repeatedly right up until the battery has to be recharged. Furthermore, the battery requires less time...Read more
