Bosch RapidFeed spade bits cut 3X faster than standard spade bits thanks to the innovative RapidFeed tip. This tip is threaded like a wood screw and literally pulls the bit through the wood for fast cutting action. The pulling action of the RapidFeed tip means less pressure is required behind the bit making overhead applications easy on the arms. I originally thought the threaded tips wouldn't work very well and were a bit of a gimmick. I was wrong, they are the fastest-boring spade bits that I've ever used, by far. You actually have to pull back with a fair amount of force to stop the bit if you're not going all the way through the wood. These are especially useful if you are drilling overhead or in a tight spot where you can't get much muscle behind the drill. The bits do all the work. As for the previous reviewer, old yellow pine can be VERY hard and have some pretty tough knots in it. If these bits broke on something, I'm sure any other bit on the market would have broken also. Bosch does not make shoddy products.

Unfortunately I can't echo the nice comment already here. I did not have good luck with these. I picked up this exact set at a local big box store and had to take it back the next weekend with broken bit. I was drilling in some old pine joists when the tip jammed and broke off - this was within the first 5 mins of use. Nice idea, but didn't work for me.

This bit set has a nice assortment of bits that cut very fast for a spade bit. They are sharp and produce clean holes in most woods. The case is very nice and I will be using it for other bits as these wear out. The blades are hard to sharpen, so don't expect to do so unless you have the proper equipment. The wings on the edges are what make them hard to re-sharpen.

These bits will rust if they get wet! I had rain leak into the back of my covered pickup truck and the case got wet and I didn't notice it for a day. Some of the bits that I had already used had rust all over them. The unused ones still had the original oil on them that kept them in good condition. Make sure to keep them dry! The case protects and transports them very well. This set is a good deal if you add up what it would cost to purchase them individually. I will be purchasing a whole new set when the 4 or 5 most used bits sizes get worn in my set.
